~~ TO BE PART OF THE WATER, artist residency, PASAJ, Istanbul, Turkey, 2021

Istanbul is surrounded by water (Bosphorus Strait, Sea of Marmara, Black Sea) and has always been associated with swimming for me. Nevertheless, it turns out that jumping into the water is not that easy there. It is hard to find access to water and a safe descent. Places where you can swim are known only to long-term residents of the city. During my study stay, I was meeting a new person every day and we were looking for an entrance to the water together. More than once, I have traveled several dozen kilometers, tearing through this city endlessly just to jump into the sea and feel the pleasant coolness of the water. During these meetings I learned about the hydrological problems of the city and my companions’ attitude to water.
